Story

On 29th March 2020 we will be taking on one of our toughest challenges yet; running the London Landmarks Half Marathon!

We will be running in memory of Ryan and to raise funds for St Helena who help local people face incurable illness and bereavement, supporting them and their families, friends and carers. They also support children and adults who are facing bereavement; and reach out to members of the community, helping them make their own choices and live with dignity.

"We rely heavily on the help and generosity of our fundraisers, donors and volunteers. Without them we wouldn't be here."

Just £5.00 could pay for a memories book for a child to use in order to remember a special person.

Back from holiday and straight back into training for the half marathon! The Orlando heat made it pretty hard to continue running but our 20,000 average steps each day made up for it I hope. I was also able to score a couple of pairs of new trainers at the outlets which I'm hoping with help with shin pain and help my training progress further than the 5k mark in the coming weeks. The serious training starts now. Watch this space - over to you Rhys!

It’s getting closer! Training is well underway with Hannah not letting her amazing holiday interrupt training and Rhys has continued to attend park runs on Saturdays.

Park Run Fun! This morning we braved it in the cold (not cold for long) to do our first park run together. Rhys managed it in an amazing 24 minutes and 20 seconds (almost a PB!) whilst Hannah beat her personal best with 26 minutes and 57 seconds...although she was nearly sick. Looking forward to increasing the distance through the winter and keeping up with the Saturday park runs. Rhys & Hannah x

Yesterday Corlett's Angels took on the Inflatable 5K in Ipswich in memory of Ryan to raise some more valuable funds for St. Helena. It wasn't the fastest 5K time but it certainly was alot of fun being able to run it together. We had alot of support from Ryan' family (his brother, Joe, decided to run with us on the day!) - for some it was their first ever time hitting the 5K distance and they all did amazing! A total of £286.25 has so far been donated from this, making the total now an incredible £2,256 since Ryan's funeral.

Sweaty post update!! Training is underway for the half marathon. In between runs I’ve been using spin classes to build cardio and muscle whilst reducing the impact on my joints. Not saying this is for everyone but I find it really helps me with training! Still very hard work! No pain, no gain! And I’m hoping the gain is lots of money raised for such a worthy charity! Enjoy my gross sweaty face!!

So far I'm a couple of weeks into training and I'm actually starting to enjoy it a little more each time I go. I've just started to hit the 5K distance and can now just about manage it without stopping at all; a huge achievement for me in only a few weeks and from never running prior to this! Thank you so much for everyone's support and kind donations so far, it has been amazing. There's still a long way to go but plenty of time to achieve it all in! More updates to follow but for now enjoy this sweaty Sunday selfie - over to Rhys! 😉
